What is included

Full Conference Registration

Full Conference Registration includes:

  • access to all main-conference sessions;
  • access to the workshops and tutorials programme, subject to capacity and any workshop-specific participation requirements;
  • access to the Poster and Demo programme;
  • conference materials;
  • catered breaks during the main conference;
  • the welcome reception; and
  • one conference-dinner ticket.

Workshops and Tutorials Only Registration

Workshops and Tutorials Only registration provides access to the workshops and tutorials programme on Monday, 23 November 2026.

It does not include access to the main-conference programme, welcome reception, or conference dinner.

Places may be limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation in individual workshops may also be subject to acceptance or other requirements set by the workshop organisers.

Author registration policy

At least one author of each accepted PACMHCI paper must complete a Full Conference registration by the early registration deadline for the paper to be included in the ACM ISS 2026 programme. One Full Conference registration covers one accepted PACMHCI paper. If the same registrant presents more than one accepted PACMHCI paper, an Additional PACMHCI Paper Presentation Fee is required for each additional paper.

For other accepted contributions:

  • For each accepted Poster or Demo, at least one author must complete a Full Conference registration by the early registration deadline and present the contribution in person.
  • Accepted Doctoral Symposium participants who are not presenting another contribution (PACMHCI, poster or demo) at ISS 2026 will receive complimentary registration.
  • For each accepted Workshop and Tutorial, at least one organiser must complete a Full Conference registration by the early registration deadline.
  • Workshop-paper authors must hold either a Full Conference registration or a Tutorials and Workshops Only registration.

ACM Open and publication charges

Conference registration fees and ACM publication charges are separate.

Full Papers published in Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction are subject to ACM's Open Access publication policy. An Article Processing Charge may apply unless the corresponding author is affiliated with an institution participating in ACM Open or qualifies for an applicable waiver. Further information is available on the CALL FOR PAPERS page.

No Article Processing Charge applies to Posters, Demos, Doctoral Symposium contributions, or Workshop and Tutorial proposals. These are published as non-APC-eligible contribution types.

Workshop participant papers are not published in the ACM Digital Library as part of the ISS proceedings.

Any applicable APC is administered directly by ACM and is not collected through the ISS conference-registration system.

Student registration

Student rates are available to:

  • undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students who are enrolled at the time of registration; and
  • recent graduates who completed an undergraduate, master's, or doctoral programme during the 2025/26 academic year, immediately preceding ACM ISS 2026.

Registrants using a student rate may be asked to provide one of the following:

  • a valid student identification card;
  • proof of current enrolment or a letter from their institution or supervisor; or
  • official documentation confirming the date on which their degree was completed.

Eligibility for the ACM/SIGCHI Student Member rate additionally requires a valid ACM or SIGCHI student membership at the time of registration. Eligible recent graduates without such membership should select the Student Non-member rate.

Registration support

ACM ISS encourages participation from students, early-career researchers, and attendees who may face financial barriers.

Possible sources of assistance include:

Accepted student volunteers receive a registration-fee waiver in exchange for up to 20 hours of conference support.

Cancellation, Refund, and Substitution policy

If you are unable to attend, we encourage you to transfer your registration to another eligible person before requesting a cancellation.

Registration substitutions

  • Registrations may be transferred to another person at no additional charge.
  • Registrants are generally responsible for arranging a suitable replacement. The conference committee may assist where possible but cannot guarantee that a replacement will be found.
  • Substitution requests must be submitted in writing to registration2026@iss.acm.org no later than 16 November 2026.
  • A student registration may be transferred only to another person who is eligible for the student rate.

Cancellations and refunds

  • If you are unable to arrange a replacement, you may submit a cancellation request in writing to registration2026@iss.acm.org.
  • Cancellations received on or before 6 November 2026 will be refunded, subject to a 10% administrative fee.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable after 7 November 2026.
  • Additional conference-dinner tickets may be refunded only before the applicable catering deadline.

International Tax Terms and Conditions (T&C)

If the registration fee is subject to international tax (VAT), a VAT invoice will be issued after the conclusion of the conference. This only applies to eligible participants based on their location or the location of the conference and applicable international tax laws. The VAT invoice will be emailed to the provided email address following the completion of the event. Please ensure your details are accurate at the time of registration to avoid any delays. If you have any questions regarding the eligibility of your registration fee for VAT, please contact your ACM liaison.

Visa-support letters

Participants who require a visa should begin the application process as early as possible. Information about requesting an ACM visa-support letter is available on the Visa Information site.

Accessibility and Dietary requirements

During registration, attendees will be asked to provide information about:

  • accessibility requirements;
  • dietary restrictions and allergies;
  • mobility or seating requirements;
  • communication or interpretation needs;
