Early-career researchers often lack access to structured, informal mentorship on the practical side of a research career: navigating interdisciplinary work, securing funding, finding a job, and balancing it all. On Monday, November 23, 2026, ISS 2026 hosts a half-day mentorship and career development event to open a dedicated space for open dialogue and relationship-building with established researchers from academia and industry, supporting a more informed and confident career progression.
The event is organized by Fateme Rajabiyazdi (Canada Research Chair, University of Calgary) and Frederik Brudy (Principal Research Scientist, Autodesk Research), and is supported by the ACM SIGCHI Development Fund. It is aimed at senior PhD and Master's students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty. Ahead of the session, participants will be invited to share their topics of interest and questions, which will help shape the panel discussion and the round-table conversations that follow.
